Accessibility

At Kimberley Day Cruise, we are committed to providing an enjoyable and inclusive tour experience. Our boat cruise is designed with several features to ensure that individuals with limited mobility, including seniors, can comfortably enjoy the scenic experience.

Inclusivity while on tour

No Weight Limit

Our vessel has no weight limit restrictions.

Staff Assistance

Our trained staff are available to assist with transfers and ensure a safe boarding process.

Limited Mobility

The cruise is designed to accommodate individuals with limited mobility by providing:

  • Comfortable high back high-quality marine leather seating at tables offers incredible views of the Kimberley coast and its giant tides.
  • Non-slip flooring: Safety is paramount on our boat cruise, which is why our vessel is equipped with a non-slip soft cork floor surface.
  • Handrails: To further enhance safety and accessibility, the vessel is fitted with strategically placed handrails.
  • Our amphibious vessel can transition seamlessly from sea to land, and features hydraulics to lower the vessel for easy access.
  • While we are mindful of the need to improve access for all, the main Ohana vessel has some structural limitations (one 5cm step into the cabin toilets and two steps up to the main deck) that make the tour unsuitable for individuals using a wheelchair.
Families with Small Children

While there is room to stroll around the Ohana’s main deck and there’s physical activity when transitioning to the smaller vessel at Talbot Bay, the tour is best suited to children who feel comfortable staying seated for a large portion of the trip.

Families with kids with severe autism spectrum disorder – not recommended due to the confined nature of the boat deck and the loud noises. Older kids that can stay seated for some periods will enjoy. There is a family friendly movie televised on the bus trip home to Broome.

Hearing Impairment Support

We provide headphones to assist those with hearing impairments, ensuring they can fully enjoy the guided tour and any additional audio features. People with extreme age or health problems – walking or orthopaedic difficulties – are welcome on board because there’s not much walking and you are totally supported when balancing boat transfers and you’ll enjoy the discovery of remote nature.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Unfortunately, at this stage we are not wheelchair friendly due to the requirement of over-water transfers and a stepped boat/cabin toilet.
